Our History

The staff of Faulconer & Associates Archticture & Planning has been serving clients in Ventura and its surrounding counties for over 25 years, dating back to before Michael Faulconer’s days as a founding partner with Mainstreet Architects in 1983.

The present company began as Mr. Faulconer’s sole proprietorship in Oxnard during the 1990’s. With offices in Downtown Ventura, Faulconer & Associates currently employs a staff of creative & knowledgeable architects, designers, and draftspeople with a broad base of project experience and technical specialty. Additionally, we regularly collaborate with a number of outside firms whose expertise helps to round out our slate of available project services.

Our Approach

We look at each building project as a new collaboration. To succeed, it is critical that we deftly integrate a series of interconnected program requirements and building systems. Using integrated project delivery, we actively seek to incorporate the expertise of the owners, occupants, consulting engineers, and building contractors into the design process, building teams and enabling collaboration.

As a matter of course, we incorporate basic, “common-sense” green design strategies to every project without your having to ask for them- energy efficient building systems and lighting, natural ventilation and daylighting, low-emitting healthy materials, and recycled-content products where cost effective. When a client does state that green is a project priority, we are able to take the integration of those strategies to the next level, and incorporate third-party standards such as LEED or GreenPoint Rated into the project’s design and documentation.

Our principals provide close personal attention to each project, endeavoring to create unique, timeless architecture designed to the exacting requirements of our clientele. It is through this close involvement and high level of individual service that a cohesive design concept can be carried through all phases of a project.

Additionally, we have an intimate knowledge of local design constraints, having worked with (and participated in) local public agencies and neighborhood groups for decades. We proactively incorporate that experience in our projects, developing our design in a way that will address community concerns, and lead to smoother project approvals.
