Visualization Services / B.I.M: Faulconer & Associates employs the industry’s top 3-D visualization and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, including Google’s Sketchup Pro and AutoDesk’s Revit, to create a detailed virtual model of your building. Whether you need a massing model to better understand the proportions of a space, an animated fly-by for presentation to a municipal review board, or a series of digitally-produced artistic renderings for pitching a project to investors, Faulconer & Associates has the tools and the expertise.


Planning

Community Planning and Urban Design: As members of the Congress for the New Urbanism, the staff at Faulconer & Associates is well-versed in laying out traditional neighborhood blocks that are walkable and pedestrian-friendly, with a mix of uses, housing types, and development densities. When built with these principles in mind, a development fosters a vibrant living environment punctuated by security, community, and a strong sense of “place.”

Housing Design: Multifamily projects are really small communities unto themselves. Working with locally adopted “smart-growth” principles, where the building massing and relationship to the public realm are paramount, we design urban infill mixed-use projects and higher density, traditional neighborhood developments that create desirable places to live while enhancing the livability of the surrounding community.



Green Design & Consulting

LEED Services: Buildings consume over 40% of America’s energy resources, and Construction & Demolition debris comprises 22% of the solid waste stream. To minimize these impacts, our staff actively incorporates sustainable design elements and environmentally-preferable product specifications into all the buildings we design. We have staff accredited in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED rating system. With LEED-Accredited Professionals on staff, we can design your project to LEED specifications, or act as a third party consultant to incorporate and document these measures.

Green Point Rating: Similar in principle to LEED, but tailored exclusively for single- and multi-family residential construction, the GreenPoint Rated program provides a third-party verified standard for a multitude of sustainable building features, a kind of “green report card” for your home or housing development. Our firm has designed homes and multifamily projects to meet the GreenPoint standards, and also regularly consults with builders and architects to assist them with greening their projects.

Building Performance Modeling: Faulconer & Associates’ extensive use of 3-D modeling in our projects enables us to accurately evaluate how much sun is going to enter a building, and at what time of year. This can quickly inform us of how to appropriately size overhangs & canopies, and to position windows to minimize heat gain. We also use detailed Title-24 (state-mandated energy code) analysis to maximize opportunities for energy efficiency, and take measures to reduce your utility bills without sacrificing building performance.
